Welcome to my wildlife photography website. I live near Prince George, BC, and frequently enjoy traveling throughout Western Canada and Alaska. Most photos were obtained in this beautiful region of North America. For more than twenty years, my wife Carol and I have been very active with backpacking and hiking trips. Photography has been a fairly recent addition (since 2005), in an effort to capture images of some of the cool things we see in the backcountry.

Every photo on this website is of a completely wild animal - you will never see a captive subject here. In addition, I've never used Photoshop to piece a photo together. I'll do some basic colour balancing and I might clean up a photo somewhat (like editing out a dust spot or small branch near a subject's face), but any photo shown here is what I saw in the field.

In case you were wondering how we came up with the name of this website ... well, we had a one-legged chickadee frequent our bird feeders several winters ago and we nicknamed him 'Hoppy'. He acted a lot differently than typical chickadees, and earned a special place in our hearts. Thus, we were always very happy to see him. Carol and I had just talked about this chickadee the day before I was asked for a website name; and, as it was the first thing that popped into my head, I went with it!

Photography is just a hobby for me, so I don't actively promote sales of images. If you are interested in any of the images shown on this site please feel free to contact me, as I'm more than willing to accommodate most requests in some manner. All images are copyrighted, and unauthorized reproduction in any manner is strictly prohibited without written consent.

Cheers,

Peter Zwiers
